Terms & Conditions
Oz Canopies & 4×4 Accessories | Last updated 9 September 2026
These terms cover shipping, returns and product warranty for goods and fitting services supplied by Oz Canopies & 4×4 Accessories of 20 Walker Street, South Windsor NSW 2756.
The Warranty Policy in Part B prevails over any inconsistent warranty, guarantee, quality promise, product description, blog post, advertisement or other content on www.ozcanopies.com.au, or in our quotes, emails or social media. The only exception is a longer or more specific warranty period stated on the relevant product page or manufacturer document for that item. That period applies to that product. Every other condition in Part B still applies.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not excluded by these terms.
Part A — Shipping, freight and returns
Shipping
We aim to get every delivery out quickly and as safely as possible. 99% of items ship within 2 business days of payment.
Many items are large and bulky. If you are collecting, you must have enough space and proper straps. A trailer or tray-back ute is required for canopy pickups. We will not place a canopy on top of a closed tub. Call before you come to confirm availability.
Authority to leave
If an item is sent with authority to leave, any freight warranty is void. For freight warranty to apply, every package must be signed for and inspected within 48 hours of receipt.
Damaged in transit
Inspect the delivery as soon as it arrives. If it is damaged, email us at in**@************om.au within 48 hours of receipt. Failure to do so may void the freight warranty on that item.
Incorrect item received
If you did not receive the item you ordered, email us. If we sent the wrong item, we will pay the postage to fix it.
Change of mind returns
If you bought the wrong item or changed your mind, unused supply-only goods may be returned, subject to all of the following:
- Returned within 7 days of receipt.
- Unused, and in a resaleable condition.
- A restocking fee applies:
- 15% if the goods are returned in the original, unopened packaging.
- 30% if the goods are out of the original packaging, or the packaging has been opened for any reason, including just to check the contents.
- Return postage is your cost, or you can return the goods in store at 20 Walker Street (Unit 3), South Windsor NSW 2756.
- Allow up to 10 days for refunds to be processed after we receive and inspect the goods.
Opened packaging includes cut tape, broken seals, removed film, opened cartons and missing or damaged packaging. If the packaging is opened, the 30% fee applies even if the product itself looks unused.
Fitted goods are not change-of-mind returns. Once a canopy, hard lid, roller shutter, towbar, bull bar or other accessory is fitted to a vehicle, it is not going back on the shelf as new.
This section is for change of mind only. It does not apply to goods that are faulty, damaged in transit, or not what you ordered. Those are dealt with under the freight rules and the Australian Consumer Law.
Delay or Loss in delivery
On rare occasions freight is delayed or lost by the courier. A delay is not automatic grounds for a replacement or refund. If a consignment cannot be located, we must first lodge an enquiry with the courier and obtain written confirmation that the item is lost. That process can take up to 30 days from the date we raise the enquiry. Until that confirmation is received we will not dispatch a replacement or process a refund for the missing goods. Once the courier confirms the loss, we will either send a replacement or refund the original purchase price including the shipping you paid, at our option, except to the extent the Australian Consumer Law requires a particular remedy. You must tell us promptly if a tracking status stalls or the delivery window is missed. Authority-to-leave consignments and unsigned deliveries remain subject to the freight rules above.
Damage or missing parts after supply or pickup
If you pick up or take delivery of an item and later find it is damaged or missing parts, you must bring the item back to 20 Walker Street, South Windsor NSW 2756 for us to inspect and address the issue. We do not pay return freight, re-freight, or any transport costs because the customer lives some distance from our workshop. Getting the item to us is your cost. We do not send replacement parts or arrange rectification elsewhere unless we agree in writing first. Tell us as soon as you notice the problem and before the item is installed or modified. This does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Part B — Warranty Policy
This is the warranty against defects given by Oz Canopies & 4×4 Accessories (we, us, our) on products we supply and, where relevant, on fitting work we perform.

2. Australian Consumer Law
This warranty is in addition to, and does not replace or exclude, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) and any other law that cannot be excluded. Nothing in this document limits those rights.
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:
- to cancel your service contract with us; and
- to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.
You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods.
If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion.
You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
Where this policy says we “reserve the right” to refuse a claim, that reservation applies to this commercial warranty only. It does not override an ACL consumer guarantee where that guarantee applies.
3. What this warranty covers
Subject to the terms below, we warrant that products supplied by us will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the applicable warranty period when used for their intended purpose and in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and any instructions we give you.
This warranty covers the product only. It does not cover the labour cost to fit, remove, refit, diagnose, realign or adjust the product, whether the original installation was done by us, by you, or by a third party. If a claim is accepted, our obligation under this warranty is to repair or replace the defective product (or the defective part of it) at our option. Labour, workshop time, travel, freight, vehicle hire, and any associated fitting cost sit with you, except to the extent the ACL requires otherwise.
All inspection, diagnosis, repair, replacement and other rectification work under this warranty must be carried out at our workshop at 20 Walker Street, South Windsor NSW 2756. We do not attend other sites, do not authorise third-party repairers, and do not reimburse work done elsewhere, unless we agree in writing before that work starts or the ACL requires otherwise. Getting the vehicle or product to and from our workshop is your cost.
Where a manufacturer of a branded product we supply (for example a towbar manufacturer) provides its own warranty, that manufacturer warranty applies in addition to this policy as to duration and manufacturer remedy only. It does not replace the conditions, exclusions or claim process in this document.
4. Warranty periods
Warranty periods are product-specific and, on some products, component-specific. Different parts of the same item can have different periods.
Unless a different period is stated on the relevant product page, invoice or manufacturer documentation:
- Default: 12 months from the warranty start date.
- Towbars: lifetime structural warranty on the towbar as stated on our towbar product pages, conditional on the bar being used only for towing, fitted correctly, and remaining with the original purchaser. Wiring looms, sockets, modules and consumables are not lifetime items and follow the default 12-month period unless the product page says otherwise.
- Moving parts, hardware and electrics: 12 months, including locks, latches, handles, hinges, gas struts, rollers, sliders, drawer runners, actuators, central locking motors, switches, looms, modules and lights, unless the product page says otherwise.
- Seals, brushes, rubber, plastic trim and weatherstrips: 12 months against manufacturing defect. Compression set, hardening, shrinkage, UV chalking and wear from use are not defects.
- Paint, powder coat, gelcoat and decals: 12 months against manufacturing defect. Fading, chalking, stone chips, swirl marks, chemical staining and environmental corrosion are not covered.
Warranty start date:
- Supply only: the invoice / dispatch date.
- Supply and fit by us: the date installation is completed and the vehicle leaves our workshop.
The warranty is given to the original purchaser named on the invoice. It is not transferable unless a product page expressly says it is.
5. Weather sealing — canopies, hard lids, roller shutters and tonneaus
Canopies, hard lids, roller shutters, roller lids and soft tonneaus we supply and fit are weatherproof. They are not 100% waterproof.
It is within specification for a small amount of water to enter the tub as drips or drops in heavy rain, high-pressure washing, water crossings, or when the vehicle is parked on an angle. A few drips or drops in the tub, dampness around the tailgate, canopy-to-tub join, window channels, lock barrels or roller tracks does not mean the product is defective and is not a warranty claim.
Dust ingress is treated the same way. Ute tubs are not sealed boxes. Fine dust will find a path around tailgates, drains and moving covers. Dust seal kits reduce dust. They do not eliminate it.
You are responsible for ongoing seal care: keep drain holes clear, inspect and condition rubber seals, do not high-pressure wash seal faces at close range, and do not modify the product or drill extra holes without resealing them properly. Failure to maintain seals is not a manufacturing defect.
6. Installation
Incorrect installation voids this warranty.
If the product was not fitted by Oz Canopies & 4×4, we reserve the right to inspect the installation and decide whether it was fitted correctly and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. If we determine it was not, we may refuse the warranty claim.
DIY fitment, backyard fitment, and fitment by an installer we did not authorise are all “not fitted by us”. Bring the vehicle in if you want us to inspect it. We may charge a diagnostic / inspection fee, refundable only if we accept the claim under this warranty.
Do not modify, cut, weld, drill additional holes in, or alter the product after supply without our written agreement. Unauthorised modification voids this warranty for the affected product.
7. Use outside specification
If we determine that a product was used outside its prescribed specifications, we may refuse the warranty on that item. We reserve the right to make that determination after inspection.
Examples, not an exhaustive list:
- Overloading a canopy roof, rack, platform or drawer beyond the stated static, dynamic or off-road rating. The lowest-rated component in the system is the limit that applies.
- Mounting a rooftop tent, awning, spare wheel, solar array or other accessory in a way the canopy or rack is not rated to carry.
- Using a standard / non-recovery towbar, tongue or hitch for vehicle recovery, snatching, winching or as a recovery point.
- Exceeding the towbar’s rated towing capacity or ball weight, or towing with a damaged, bent or incorrectly loaded setup.
- Using a bull bar, nudge bar, rear bar or side step as a jacking, recovery or lifting point unless it is expressly rated for that use.
- Off-road impact, hitting an object, or using the product as a battering ram.
- Carrying corrosive, chemical or wet loads that attack coatings, seals or structure without appropriate protection.
Rated capacities are those stated on the product, the product page, the manufacturer’s plate or the fitting instructions. If you did not ask, do not assume the rating is “whatever the vehicle can take”.
8. Vehicle condition after the vehicle leaves our premises
Inspect the vehicle and the work before you drive away. Point out any issue with our work or any damage you say we caused while the vehicle is still here. We will look at it on the spot.
Once the vehicle has left our premises, we do not accept responsibility for damage later reported on the vehicle, except to the extent the ACL requires us to. That includes paint, panels, glass, trims, tubs, wiring, sensors, ADAS cameras, underbody coatings and existing accessories. If you think we damaged something, say so before you leave, or as soon as you reasonably can with clear photos and a description. A claim raised weeks later with no contemporaneous evidence will be treated as unproven.
9. Parts removed during installation
It is your responsibility to ask for any parts we remove during installation if you want them back. Ask before or at the time of the job, not a month later.
Removed parts may have been cut, drilled, bent, unclipped or otherwise rendered unusable in the course of a proper installation. We are not obliged to keep, store, box or return parts you did not request. Factory tow hooks, bumper sections, undertrays, step pads, wiring and fasteners are commonly discarded or recycled if not requested.
10. What this warranty does not cover
This warranty does not cover:
- Fair wear and tear.
- Accident, impact, stone damage, hail, flood, fire, storm or other external event.
- Misuse, neglect, lack of maintenance, or continued use after a fault became obvious.
- Water or dust ingress within the weatherproof (not waterproof) specification in section 5.
- Corrosion, including corrosion from coastal air, salt water, fertiliser, chemicals, or failure to repair stone chips and exposed metal.
- Colour variance, batch variation, and the fact that a painted accessory will not be a perfect factory body-colour match.
- Consumables: globes, fuses, batteries, lubricants, pins, clips, hitch pins, R-clips, tow balls as wear items.
- Gas struts that have weakened through age, cold weather or after the warranty period. Cold-weather sag on an otherwise serviceable strut is not a defect.
- Noise, rattle or vibration that is inherent to a bolted-on accessory on a work or touring ute, unless it is caused by a manufacturing or our-fitment defect.
- Issues caused by another accessory, a previous installer, a smash repairer, or a modification we did not do.
- Commercial, mining, hire or fleet use that is harder than the product was sold for, where that use caused the failure.
- Second-hand products sold as used, seconds, or “as-is”, except to the extent the ACL still applies.
- Freight or transit damage notified outside the inspection window in Part A.
11. Vehicle manufacturer warranties, insurance and compliance
Fitting an accessory does not automatically void a new-vehicle manufacturer warranty. A manufacturer can refuse a specific claim if the accessory or the way it was fitted caused or contributed to that failure. That is a causation question, not a blanket void.
We do not warrant that any accessory we supply or fit will leave your vehicle manufacturer warranty unaffected in every scenario. Keep your invoice and, if you want a paper trail, photos of the completed job.
You are responsible for:
- Telling your insurer that accessories have been fitted.
- Staying within GVM, GCM, axle, tow, ball-weight and roof-load limits after accessories and payload are added.
- Any engineering, ADR, lighting, airbag or number-plate consequence of a modification you asked for.
Bull bars, winches, driving lights and similar products can interact with airbags, radar cruise, cameras and parking sensors. We fit to the product instructions. We are not the vehicle manufacturer and we do not re-certify the vehicle.
12. How to claim
To claim under this warranty:
- Contact us on 02 9627 8666 or in**@************om.au as soon as the issue is apparent. Do not keep using a product that has obviously failed.
- Once you contact us we will send you a warranty claim form link. That form must be completed in full before the claim will be assessed or any rectification work is booked. An incomplete form, or a claim raised only by phone or message with no form, is not a claim under this policy.
- Quote your invoice number, vehicle make/model/rego, what was fitted, when, and a clear description of the fault.
- Provide photos or video that actually show the issue. A dark photo of a wet tub floor after a storm is not enough on its own.
- Make the vehicle or product available for inspection at 20 Walker Street, South Windsor NSW 2756 if we ask. We are entitled to inspect before we accept a claim.
- If the product was not fitted by us, we may require it be brought in fitted to the vehicle so we can assess the installation.
We will tell you whether we accept the claim, reject it, or need more information. If we accept it, we will repair or replace the defective product or part at our option, at 20 Walker Street, South Windsor NSW 2756. Replacement may be a current equivalent if the original is no longer available. We will not perform or pay for rectification at your home, workplace, another workshop, or anywhere else unless we say so in writing first.
Expenses of claiming: you bear the cost of getting the vehicle or product to us and collecting it afterwards, and any freight, unless we agree otherwise in writing or the ACL requires us to meet a particular cost. If we ask you to ship a supply-only part back, we will tell you whether we will cover freight on a valid claim. Do not return goods without a return authorisation.
Invalid claims: if inspection shows the fault is not covered, you pay the inspection fee and any work you then ask us to do.
13. Freight and change of mind are not warranty
Transit damage, wrong-item shipments and change-of-mind returns are dealt with under Part A. They are not warranty claims. Fitted goods are not change-of-mind returns.
14. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, and except as required by the ACL:
- Our liability under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement of the defective product or part.
- We are not liable for consequential or indirect loss, including lost work time, missed travel, damaged cargo, hire cars, accommodation, or loss of use of the vehicle.
- We are not liable for damage reported after the vehicle has left our premises, as set out in section 8.
If the ACL applies and a limitation in this section cannot operate, that limitation is read down to the minimum extent required for the rest of this policy to stand.
15. General
- Governing law: New South Wales, Australia. Courts of NSW have jurisdiction.
- If any clause is unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
- We may update these terms for future sales. The version that applies to you is the version current on the date of your invoice.
- This Warranty Policy overrules any earlier warranty wording on the website, including the Quality Guarantee line and any warranty statements in category or product copy, except for a product-specific warranty period as set out in section 4.
- Headings are for reading convenience only.
